Christmas and New Year at Bridgend County Borough Council

Opening times over the Christmas and New Year period have been confirmed by Bridgend County Borough Council.

This year, council offices will be closed on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve in addition to Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, and opening hours will return to normal on Wednesday 2 January 2019:

  • Christmas Eve - Closed
  • Christmas Day - Closed
  • Boxing Day - Closed
  • Thursday 27 December - Open 8.30am-4pm
  • Friday 28 December - Open 8.30am-4pm
  • New Year’s Eve - Closed
  • New Year’s Day - Closed
  • Wednesday 2 January - Open 8.30am-5pm

An emergency Social Services day service will be available during the festive period as well as an out-of-hours service, while the council’s recycling and waste collection partners, Kier, will be available to receive calls until 3.30pm on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

You can access both of these by calling the council’s main telephone number, 01656 643643, and selecting the relevant options.

For their first rubbish collection after Christmas Day, residents will be able to put out an extra refuse bag. While waste and recycling collections will take place on Christmas Eve, there won’t be any on Christmas Day or Boxing Day, and all collections will be two days later for the rest of that week.

Collections will take place on New Year’s Eve, but not on New Year’s Day, and all collections will be one day later than normal for the rest of that week before returning to normal on Monday 7 January.

Bridgend County Borough Council would like to wish all residents a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.
