Last chance to join in active travel consultation

With less than a week left until the council’s active travel consultation closes, time is running out for Bridgend County Borough residents to have their say on proposed new routes for pedestrians and cyclists.

Based on responses to the first phase consultation launched in December 2020, draft route plans have been drawn up showing existing and proposed future active travel routes.

Active travel means walking or cycling for everyday short-distance journeys. It covers trips to school, shops, work, services and transport hubs. Also, it can include the use of electric wheelchairs or mobility scooters but it does not include journeys purely for recreation or social reasons.

Residents who walk or cycle to get around the county borough are encouraged to have their say on the plans and help to shape the future of active travel in the area.

The consultation is open until Sunday 4 April and asks if the routes are more likely to help you get around your local area as a pedestrian or cyclist and if not, asks what other improvements you would like to see.

Having your say is made easy through the online mapping portal and your comments will help to improve the active travel routes network map. The results of this feedback will be used to finalise the map, which will then go out for further consultation before being be submitted to Welsh Government for approval.

You can view the draft map and have your say at our active travel routes consultation webpage. For further information about active travel, visit the council’s webpage.
