Local DJ Lee Jukes interviews Council Leader on budget consultation

There’s still time for residents in Bridgend County Borough to have their say on the council’s spending priorities over the coming year.

And to help people find out more, you can listen to a short podcast between DJ Lee Jukes and Council Leader Huw David with council tax levels and the overall budget under discussion.

This year the budget consultation involves consideration of a longer-term vision for the county borough, covering areas such as investment in schools, social services, roads, regeneration projects, energy schemes and sea defences as well as council tax levels, fees and charges for car parking and sports pavilions, and the development of online services.

It also asks for the views of residents around how best to support local businesses, tourism and the economy.

By voicing your opinion in this budget consultation, you will help us as a Council and Cabinet to make informed decisions about how and where we spend money in the county borough. It also helps ensure that the services we deliver to our communities are effective and efficient.

We need to know what has worked well, and where we need to continue to make changes or improvements as we recover from the coronavirus pandemic to ensure that the council is able to deliver sustainable and effective services for the next five to 10 years.

We’d invite anyone who wants to find out more about the budget consultation to listen to a short podcast between the local DJ Lee Jukes and I. It is a quick and easy introduction to the budget consultation and highlights why it’s important for residents to have their say.
