Look out for recycling calendars and re-register for purple bag collections

New recycling calendars will be delivered to every home in Bridgend County Borough later this month, and thousands of households that are currently registered for the Absorbent Hygiene Products collections (purple bags) will be invited to re-register for the coming year.

When the new 2018/19 recycling calendars land through letterboxes in the next few weeks, everyone who signed up for the purple bag collections between April and September 2017 will also receive a letter telling them how they should go about re-registering if they still need the fortnightly service.

Then, in the autumn, we’ll be writing out to all of the homes who registered for the service between October and December last year to invite them to re-register too.

We’ll be asking people whether they would like to re-register for the service every year as circumstances may have changed so there will already be some households that no longer need the collections

Councillor Hywel Williams, the council’s Deputy Leader,

Any residents who haven’t previously registered for the service can sign up at any time by entering their post code and then choosing the option to register. Alternatively, requests to register can be made by calling 01656 643643 (+ option 2) or emailing recyclingandwaste@bridgend.gov.uk.

In all, the Absorbent Hygiene Products collections cater for nappies, wipes, paper tissues, colostomy bags, adult incontinence pads, plastic bed sheets, plastic gloves and disposable aprons.

Bridgend County Borough residents are also reminded that there won’t be any recycling and waste collections on Monday 28 May due to the Whitsun Bank Holiday, so collections will be one day later than usual for the rest of the week up until Saturday 2 June.
