New operator for Ogmore Valley care home

Bridgend County Borough Council is pleased to announce that an Ogmore Valley care home has been given a bright future.

The council had been considering the long-term viability of the Ty Cwm Ogwr care home in Pantyrawel as part of cost-cutting measures required by austerity.

But those plans have now been scrapped as the council has successfully secured Ashville Residential Ltd, an experienced independent provider, to take over the running of the home on a 125-year lease.

I’m delighted to share this news. Ty Cwm Ogwr had formed part of our remodelling plans as we strive to save millions over the next few years. However, following extensive consultation, we’ve been able to revisit those plans and develop an alternative solution which will allow us to continue delivering new services from the facility in the longer term.

This of course means that the residents of Ty Cwm Ogwr will remain in their current surroundings, and that staff jobs have been protected. I’m thrilled that we have been able to retain vital accommodation services in the Ogmore Valley while also developing scope for the introduction of new services as needs and requirements change over time.
