Opening hours change at Recycling Centres

Bridgend County Borough’s three Community Recycling Centres are now open for one hour less each day.

New opening hours came into effect on Monday 17 June which mean that the centres in Tythegston, Brynmenyn and Maesteg are closing one hour earlier every day during the summer, while the centres will open half an hour later and close half an hour earlier during the winter.

The new opening hours are…

Summer hours (1 April – 30 September)
Monday to Friday: 8:30am – 7pm
Saturday and Sunday: 8:30am – 5pm

Winter hours (1 October – 31 March)
Monday to Sunday: 9am – 4pm

Cabinet Members from Bridgend County Borough Council have agreed to reduce the opening hours slightly as the move will save the local authority £17,000 each year without causing residents too much disruption.

Reducing the opening hours will have a minimal impact on recycling levels but will contribute towards the huge financial savings that the council is required to make. This change was one of the money-saving suggestions that received support from the residents who completed our ‘Shaping Bridgend’s Future’ budget consultation last autumn.

Councillor Hywel Williams, the council’s Deputy Leader

Please note that access gates at the centres will shut ten minutes before closing times. All three sites are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
