Suggestions invited for Local Development Plan

Developers, landowners and residents across Bridgend County Borough are being invited to nominate sites for possible inclusion in the new Local Development Plan (LDP).

The LDP will set out what kind of developments can take place in the county borough up until 2021, and will feature the policies that will be used to determine planning applications.

These policies will decide which areas of land can be used for residential, employment, retail, waste or minerals development, as public open space, or for community and tourism use. It will include criteria that will be used by Bridgend County Borough Council to assess individual proposals.

The Local Development Plan will have a direct effect on all residents of Bridgend County Borough, and we are urging developers, landowners and local communities to nominate candidate sites for potential allocation in the plan.

Whilst there is no guarantee that the sites suggested at this stage will be taken forward, submitting them will enable us to assess their availability when putting together strategies for future development across the county borough.

Councillor Richard Young, Cabinet Member for Communities

To make a nomination, a plan outlining the site must be submitted along with an ordnance survey base and assessment questionnaire, which can be found on the council’s website.

Copies of the assessment are available at the Civic Offices in Angel Street, Bridgend and at local libraries, and should be submitted by the deadline of 5pm on Friday 9 November.
