Visitor economy
Tourism is vital to Bridgend County Borough’s economy. According to Scarborough Tourism Economic Activity Monitor (STEAM) figures, the sector brought £347m into the county borough in 2018. This supported the equivalent of 4,041 full-time jobs.
A Destination Management Plan has been introduced for Bridgend County Borough for 2018 to 2022. It aims to bring together local government organisations, businesses and the community to develop a thriving visitor economy.
The plan focuses on delivering a high quality visitor experience, taking into account the needs of visitors, local residents, businesses and the environment. It sets the framework for managing the tourism vision to 2022 and is supported by a Destination Action Plan (DAP) that details specific activities.
