Overview and scrutiny committees

At the beginning of the financial year, each committee is asked what issues need to be scrutinised during the year. When working out what topics to study, they look at issues such as impact, risk, performance, budget and what the public thinks.

These items are given to the Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Committee who prioritise these items, and then delegate them back to the Subject Scrutiny Committees.

The Forward Work Programme is flexible and is looked at in each Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting to reprioritise if needed. It is regularly reviewed and updated.
