Improvement works totalling £2.5m will be spent on strengthening two bridges in Blackmill so that heavy goods vehicles can continue to travel along the A4061 between Bridgend and the Ogmore Valley.
Bridgend County Borough Council will carry out the work between autumn 2019 and summer 2020.
These are two key structures that support the highway network so it is important to take proactive action to strengthen them now to ensure their longevity.
The bridge works will ensure that heavy goods vehicles can continue to use this route for deliveries to and from businesses in the area. The works will support valley traders and residents alike, all while ensuring that an important and popular community route remains safe to use.
Councillor Richard Young, Cabinet Member for Communities
The road will remain open for the majority of the works, with some temporary road closures possible on weekends.
