64,700 people receive their first coronavirus vaccine dose

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board has confirmed that almost 64,700 people living throughout the region, including more than 17,400 residents of Bridgend County Borough, have now received their first coronavirus vaccination.

Out of the 64,700 who have received the vaccine, almost 17,700 fall within the 80 and over priority group.

Of the other priority groups, nearly 17,780 frontline health and social care staff have been vaccinated along with over 10,900 people aged 70-74.

A further 8,220 people aged 75-79 and more than 4,550 people who are classed as being either residents or staff at care homes throughout the region have also received their first dose.

Vaccinations for health and social care frontline workers is ongoing, and the health board is working with GPs to ensure that vulnerable people who are housebound or who may be shielding receive a vaccination before 14 February.

Meanwhile, the drive-through testing centre at the site of the former Revlon / Cosi factory off Oakwood Drive in Maesteg (CF34 8TS) will remain available between 9am-4pm until Thursday 4 February.

The long term walk-through testing facility at the Bowls Hall car park of Bridgend Life Centre in Angel Street, Bridgend (CF31 4AH) will also remain available between 8am to 8pm.
