Wheels in motion to extend cycle route

Work to extend the National Cycle Network Route 885 into Bridgend town centre along Brewery Lane and Angel Street has begun in earnest this week.

Cycle route improvements in Bridgend town centre

Work is underway to make Bridgend town centre even more bike-friendly. The national cycle route NCN 885, which runs from Sarn to Bridgend, is being extended along Brewery Lane to Angel Street so that it joins the safe route that connects to Newbridge Fields, Broadlands, Cefn Glas and Laleston.

£6.5m awarded for UK’s first large scale mine-water energy project

A multi-million-pound initiative to catapult Caerau, near Maesteg, to the cutting edge of the UK’s green energy revolution by using water that has filled underground mine workings as a geothermal source of energy has been awarded £6.5m EU funds, Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Planning and Rural Affairs, Lesley Griffiths, announced today.
