A number of essential traders are preparing to reopen their businesses at Bridgend Indoor Market on Thursday 3 March 2021.
A bakery, butcher and delicatessen will join stalls offering health food and fruit and vegetables, and the indoor market will be available Monday to Saturday between 9am to 3pm.
A one-way system will be in place with two-metre markings on the floor to help customers observe social distancing requirements, and hand sanitiser stations will be available.
The reopening of the indoor market will allow essential retailers to begin trading once again. Stallholders have received Covid-19 training along with instructions around maintaining social distancing for both stallholders and customers within the market.
Some shops which have not yet been able to re-open because of the Welsh Government’s essential use criteria will be cordoned off until such time as the rules change.
The market will be monitored carefully to ensure that a safe shopping and working environment can be maintained, and to limit the potential of exposure to the coronavirus.
Councillor Charles Smith, Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration
The reopening of the market follows the recent announcement that the council’s concessionary rent scheme for market traders has also been extended, with a 50 per cent discount currently in place.
