With bustling towns, excellent commuter links, and beautiful beaches and valleys, Bridgend has been named one of the places in the UK where properties are being snapped up the fastest.
Analysis by Zoopla has shown that properties put on the market in the town have offers accepted on them within an average of 24 days. Three-bedroom semi-detached houses and those priced between £100,000 and £150,000 sell most quickly.
Bridgend, which is ideally placed for commuters between Swansea and Cardiff on the railway mainline and M4, with Cardiff Airport also nearby, was in joint second place with Waltham Forest in London. Falkirk in Scotland topped the list.
The town has also been named the fifth happiest in Wales by Rightmove. The website's 'Happy at Home' index asked residents to rate where they live based on 10 measures, including a sense of community spirit, a sense of belonging, friendly and polite people, sports and cultural activities, local services and amenities, nature and green spaces.
Huw David, leader of Bridgend County Borough Council, said: “With excellent transport links, Bridgend is an ideal base for workers and businesses, while day trippers and tourists can access beautiful parks and stunning beaches.
“We’ve recently welcomed some new restaurants and bars to Bridgend and residents can get involved with our virtual Christmas celebrations with our town centre apps.
“It’s no surprise to me that the area has become such a hotspot for property sales and our residents are happy as it’s an excellent place to live, work, visit, enjoy and do business with.”
