Following discussions between Bridgend County Borough Council and local bus operators, a service linking Bridgend with Pontypridd is set to be reinstated.
Provided by New Adventure Travel, the 404 service will run between Monday and Saturday and is set to begin on Monday 20 April.
With stops in Brackla, Coychurch, Pencoed and Bridgend town centre, the 404 service joins a number of early morning bus routes which have been reinstated across Bridgend County Borough since the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic began.
These include First Cymru’s 63 service between Porthcawl and Bridgend, the 70 service from Cymmer to Bridgend, the 73 service from Blaengarw to Bridgend, the 74 service between Nantymoel and Bridgend, and the X2 service between Bridgend and Cardiff.
Well done to New Adventure Travel for providing this service and for helping key workers to travel between their homes and work. Such services are proving to be a major boost for key workers during the outbreak, and the efforts of the drivers deserve to be recognised, too.
Under a Welsh Government initiative, key workers are able to travel for free, while any fare-paying passengers are being asked to use cashless payments wherever possible in order to limit the risk of exposure and help protect drivers and passengers alike.
Stringent cleaning procedures in place and social distancing measures will be used on board the buses to help keep everyone safe.
