Communities in spotlight for Safeguarding Week 2021

Bridgend County Borough Council is joining other organisations across Wales for a national campaign focusing on a range of safeguarding issues affecting our communities.

This year, the theme chose by the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Safeguarding Board is ‘Safeguarding our Communities’ and a number of virtual sessions have been arranged.

Throughout Safeguarding Week, which runs between November 15-19, the virtual sessions will discuss a range of issues affecting children, young people and adults including domestic abuse, mental health, suicide prevention, child sexual abuse and exploitation.

It is very important that we continue to safeguard our communities, particularly after the difficulties many have faced during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A number of activities will be running online for Safeguarding Week, including training sessions, workshops and youth council debates.

We encourage residents to take advantage of these virtual events and to learn more about the services and support available through the local authority and its partners.

Safeguarding boards are statutory partnerships made up of the agencies that are responsible for safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk within their regions and ensures people of all ages are protected from abuse, neglect or other kinds of harm.
