Appeals are being made to firms across Bridgend County Borough for unwanted personal protective equipment (PPE) to help both social care and school staff providing emergency childcare during the outbreak of coronavirus.
Bridgend County Borough Council is making the appeal for PPE which includes masks, nitrile blue gloves and plastic aprons.
There are worldwide shortages of personal protective equipment and while we are distributing those which arrived earlier this week, they will soon run out.
Our staff are on the frontline, caring for people both at home and in residential homes as well as our volunteers in the emergency childcare hubs set up to look after the children of key workers. We are in desperate need to protect our staff from falling ill.
There are many firms which have ceased production in recent days, we are appealing to any who may be able to help us with the supply of PPE to get in touch as we battle this invisible deadly virus.
