Bridgend County Borough Council are celebrating the success of their festive Digital Christmas campaign.
Launched in November, the campaign aimed to entice shoppers to Bridgend, Maesteg and Porthcawl town centres with a range of deal and offers.
Businesses were invited to showcase their products and advertise promotional offers on the Digital Christmas website, advent calendar and respective town centre app.
In the month since they were launched, the website has attracted over 1,500 visitors per day and the apps have been downloaded over 1,400 times with shoppers able to take advantage of deals from over 340 businesses registered to the campaign.
The campaign has also been well received by businesses taking part. Ian Cole, financial director at Jenkins Bakery, which has branches in Porthcawl and Bridgend, said: “The Bridgend and Porthcawl apps look great.”
James Saunders, director at Saunders & Co, Maesteg, said: “As an independent business in Maesteg and the Bridgend County Borough, it has been a real boost to have the support of the council and also this great concept to link the businesses together in each town, yet keep their individuality with the town apps.”
Michelle Smith, director at Divine in Porthcawl, added: “What a wonderful initiative for the county borough. We have had had some great feedback from the social media campaign.”
It is fantastic to see how successful this campaign has been.
Not only has it offered some brilliant deals to shoppers in the county borough but has provided a boost to our town centres and independent business at a time when they need all the support we can give them.
Please continue to support our independent businesses not just at Christmas time but throughout the year.
Councillor Stuart Baldwin, Cabinet Member for Communities
