Bridgend County Borough Council has taken the difficult decision of strictly limiting the number of mourners at Coychurch Crematorium to 10 to help limit the spread of coronavirus.
The chosen individuals will be decided between the bereaved family and the funeral director.
This is to reduce the risk of exposure for mourners and staff.
All council-run cemeteries are currently open.
It is with great sadness that in line with other local authorities we have taken the decision to limit the number of mourners. We fully recognise the impact on loved ones at an already distressing time and we apologise for the discomfort and upset this will cause.
It is imperative we think about the welfare of all those attending services and staff, the last thing anyone wants is to get infected while at a funeral service. To ensure that people affected by these changes and all issues relating to coronavirus are able to pay their respects to loved ones who have passed away, the council will work with funeral directors to seek alternative options.
This could include working with families to potentially hold celebration of life services later in the year.
