The annual Christmas Remembrance Service at Coychurch Crematorium has been cancelled due to concerns over rising Covid-19 rates and the spread of the new Omicron strain of coronavirus.
Due to take place this evening (Thursday 16 December), the decision to cancel the annual event has been reluctantly taken following warnings from Welsh Government as cases of the virus continue to rise across the United Kingdom.
The Christmas Remembrance Service at Coychurch Crematorium is an extremely popular event. People travel to Bridgend County Borough from neighbouring areas to take part, and it is always very well attended.
As such, the decision to cancel this annual event has been taken with great reluctance. However, with coronavirus cases rising and Christmas approaching, we believe that this is the right decision, and the best way to keep people safe and well.
We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment that this may cause, but with the ongoing pandemic continuing to cause concerns, I hope that people will understand why we have had to take this action.

Coychurch Crematorium was designed by internationally renowned architect Maxwell Fry and is Grade II* listed. Management of the facility is overseen by a joint committee featuring elected members of Bridgend County Borough, the Vale of Glamorgan and Rhondda Cynon Taf councils.
