Crews work throughout the night to fight flooding

Bridgend County Borough Council staff worked throughout the night to deal with heavy rain and prevent widespread flooding in areas across the county borough

Highways crews helped to distribute sandbags, cleared drains and gulleys, and removed debris from culverts where needed.

It followed the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for rainfall.

Due to the sheer volume of rain, Roger’s Lane from Laleston to Cefn Cribbwr, Heronston Lane in Bridgend and the A4064 at Llangeinor were among the roads flooded.

Sandbags were sent to properties at Bridgend Road in Garth, Oaklands Avenue in Bridgend, Heol-Pant-yr-awel, Pantyrawel, Lewistown, Craiglas in Llangeinor and Main Avenue in Brackla industrial estate.

And highways teams helped to clear a number of culverts blocked by debris being swept down from fields and neighbouring land in Heol Faen, Maesteg, Min-y-Nant and Greenacres in Pencoed.

The clean-up is ongoing today with teams carrying out further investigations to establish the cause of some of the incidents.
