Do not drink alcohol in PSPO areas

People waiting for takeaway food and drink are being urged to maintain social distancing and also not to consume alcohol in Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) areas.
PSPOs cover areas across the county including parts of Porthcawl, Bridgend town centre, Maesteg, Caerau and Pencoed.
We urge residents to remember that while some places are providing a takeaway service, it’s vital to maintain social distancing and to be aware that PSPOs are in several places across the county borough.
This means that drinking alcohol or carrying it in any open container in these areas is prohibited and failing to comply may mean arrest and a potential £1,000 fine. Notices have been placed in designated areas to remind people and officers from South Wales Police and the local authority will be conducting regular patrols.
While we look forward to the reopening of local businesses, services and facilities, it is vital we continue to keep to the Alert Level 4 restrictions currently in place to minimise the spread of coronavirus and enable us to return to normal as quickly as possible.
