The Cabinet of Bridgend County Borough Council will meet next week to consider the outcome of a feasibility study into whether it will be possible to establish all-new premises and a new nursery for Mynydd Cynffig Primary School in Kenfig Hill.
Cabinet members will be asked to approve proposals for moving to the next stage of the process, which will involve carrying out public consultation over the plans.
If agreed, the project aims to deliver a £10.2m two-form entry school and a 75-place nursery on the former junior school site by 2025.
Part of the council’s ongoing school modernisation initiative, funding for the project would be provided from Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools Programme and the council’s own capital investments.
Mynydd Cynffig Primary School was formed when the junior and infant schools merged together in 2015. Part of the former junior school premises later had to close due to a burst pipe which revealed extensive building damage, leading to the use of high-quality modular classrooms as a temporary measure.
If successful, the existing premises will be replaced with an all-new building featuring modern learning facilities.
- Cabinet will meet to discuss the plans at 2.30pm on Tuesday 19 October.
