Bridgend County Borough Council has teamed up with local radio personality Lee Jukes to help raise awareness of LGBT History Month.
Proud to promote equality, Councillor Dhanisha Patel, the council’s Cabinet Member for Wellbeing and Future Generations, said: “We are proud to support LGBT History Month once again this year. There is still a lot of fear and prejudice in relation to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and those questioning across the UK, and people are suffering discrimination, harassment and victimisation because of their gender or sexuality every day.
“Discrimination of any form is unacceptable and has no place in Bridgend County Borough, which is why we will continue working hard with our partners to encourage a mutual respect between all people living in the county borough.
I love Bridgend County Borough. We live in an amazingly diverse area where community spirit shines through. LGBT History Month is about celebrating the huge steps taken in the past to make our society more accepting and fairer for everyone.
It's brilliant to see Bridgend County Borough Council marking this by helping to raise awareness. It's a small token, but a massive symbol to reflect support for the LGBT community in our county borough and beyond.
