Members of the public are being invited to have their say on proposals for providing a state-of-the-art new replacement for Heronsbridge School.
The proposed replacement would see the school relocated from Ewenny Road, Bridgend to Island Farm and increase the number of pupils to 300.
It is hoped the plans will help meet an increase in the number of learners with additional learning needs in the area and result in a reduction in the number of learners sent out of the county for education.
The school would also provide accommodation which meets the needs of the most vulnerable learners and would have an increased number of residential places.
Residents, school governors, parents and carers, pupils and school staff are encouraged to voice their opinions in the online consultation which can be found on the Bridgend County Borough Council website.
It is anticipated that the proposal will come into effect at the beginning of the 2026 autumn term.
These plans will see Heronsbridge gain a much-needed expansion in capacity as well as offer the latest, high-quality facilities which will be of great benefit to both learners and school staff.
This consultation is a vital phase in the process, and I encourage people to share their views on the proposals.
