Improvement Notice issued to Porthcawl takeaway

Gusto Grill House in Porthcawl has been served with an Improvement Notice by enforcement officers after staff were found to not be wearing face coverings.

Shared Regulatory Services officers visited the takeaway on John Street, on Thursday, November 26, after noting that workers had been seen without face coverings on three occasions previously.

Councillor Dhanisha Patel, the Bridgend County Borough Council cabinet member whose portfolio includes Shared Regulatory Services, said: “If the takeaway makes the necessary improvements within 48 hours of the Premises Improvement Notice being issued, it will be lifted.

“It is important that those who are responsible for premises take all reasonable measures to ensure they are meeting the Welsh Government’s regulations to minimise the spread of Covid-19.”

Premises Improvement Notices specify the measures that need to be taken to meet the regulations within a certain time limit, usually 48 hours. If the business fails to comply, enforcement officers can issue a Premises Closure Notice, requiring the premises, or part of it, to be closed for up to 14 days.

In some circumstances, enforcement officers can close the premises immediately without having served an improvement notice, but this would only be where there has been a serious breach of regulations.
