Another packed summer of activities for school children in Bridgend County Borough will launch with a FREE ‘Fun in the Park’ event from 1pm – 3pm at Newbridge Fields in Bridgend on Saturday 14 July.
Families will get a taster of what’s to come this summer, with a mischief trail, arts and crafts, hula-hooping and bubble football all on offer, as well as the launch of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.
Those are some of the activities that will form part of this year’s ‘Schools Out’ programme of summer holiday activities, which is being organised by Bridgend County Borough Council in partnership with Awen Cultural Trust, Halo Leisure, Menter Bro Ogwr and town and community councils across the county borough.
The popular summer programme will again feature a huge choice of entertaining, active and inspirational activities for local youngsters throughout the holidays, including ParkLives funded by Coca-Cola GB, Active 4 Life sessions, free swimming and Welsh language opportunities.
The Fun in the Park event is set to be a jam-packed day full of fun and games for the whole family, giving a flavour of what children can expect throughout the school holidays.
Children have no excuse to be bored this summer, with ParkLives, the Summer Reading Challenge, and so much more taking place locally. Please find out more about what’s on offer, and get involved!
Councillor Dhanisha Patel, Cabinet Member for Wellbeing and Future Generations
The theme of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge is ‘Mischief Makers’, and children taking part in the challenge at local Awen Libraries throughout the summer will pick up exclusive rewards along the way.
The full School’s Out programme of activities will be available on the council website from Friday 20 July, on our website's leisure and culture pages. For more information on the Summer Reading Challenge 2018 please contact Bridgend Library on 01656 754830.
