Last chance to have your say on council spending priorities

There is now less than one week remaining for residents in Bridgend County Borough to have their say on the council’s spending priorities over the coming year.
The public consultation for next year’s budget closes on 14 November 2021 and people are being encouraged to take part while they still can.
This year, the budget consultation considers a longer-term vision for the county borough, covering areas such as social services, roads, regeneration projects, investment in schools, energy schemes and sea defences as well as council tax levels, fees and charges for car parking and sports pavilions, and the development of online service.
It also asks for the views of residents around how best to support local businesses, tourism and the economy.
To help people find out more about what the consultation means for the future of the county borough, Bridgend County Borough Council Leader Huw David has recorded a short podcast with local DJ Lee Jukes.
The podcast, which you can listen to on the local authority’s website, discusses the importance of taking part in the consultation as well as explaining how council tax is set and the overall budget.
We invite anyone who has yet to take part in the budget consultation to do so before the deadline on 14 November.
Sharing your opinion helps us as a Council and Cabinet to ensure we make informed decisions about how and where money is spent in the county borough as well as ensuring that our community services work effectively and efficiently.
We’d also like to point people towards the podcast Cllr David recorded with DJ Lee Jukes. It is a quick and easy introduction to the budget consultation and highlights why it is so important for residents to have their say.

Responses from residents will be used to inform the medium-term financial strategy for 2022/23 – 2025/26.
