Bridgend County Borough Council is marking Mental Health Awareness Week between 9 - 15 May 2022. With ‘loneliness’ as the theme of the week, the event seeks to demonstrate how it impacts mental and physical wellbeing.
As the month of May is also #NationalWalkingMonth, we are encouraging residents to sign up to the ‘80 Miles in May’ challenge and share their photos using the hashtag #80MilesinMay.
There are many beautiful parks, woodlands, green spaces, nature reserves and beaches around #Bridgend County Borough to visit and enjoy, including many coastal walks and the Dog's Trust Snoopy Trail which is currently located within #Porthcawl.
There are also a number of services to support people who are suffering from loneliness and mental health issues in Bridgend County Borough. These include:
- Assisting Recovery in the Community (ARC) which offers practical advice, guidance and structured support for individuals with mental health issues.
- Young person’s mental health toolkit – online resources to support mental health and wellbeing.
- Health and wellbeing courses – how to promote mental wellbeing and recognise the support that is available for individuals living with mental health problems.
- Counselling service for young people – how children and young people aged 10 to 15 can access a counselling service to support their emotional resilience.
- The Silver Line - a free, confidential 24/7 helpline offering information, friendship and support for older people.
