Mobile Covid-19 testing for Maesteg and Porthcawl

Bridgend County Borough Council and Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board has confirmed where coronavirus testing facilities will be located in Bridgend County Borough next week.

Between Monday 9 – Monday 16 November, a drive-through facility will be available at the site of the former Revlon / Cosi factory off Oakwood Drive in Maesteg (CF34 8TS). To use this facility, which will be drive-through only, you will need to book an appointment in advance by visiting the Welsh Government website.

A walk-in mobile testing centre will also continue to be available until Thursday 12 November at Porthcawl’s Grand Pavilion. No appointments are required to use this walk-in service

The current drive-through testing facility based at Coytrahen Community Centre will be available over the weekend, closing at 5pm on Sunday 8 November. This must also be booked in advance using the Welsh Government website.

All of the mobile testing facilities are available between 9am-5pm, seven days a week.

Residents should only attend a mobile testing centre if showing symptoms of coronavirus such as a high temperature, a new persistent cough, or a loss or change in your sense of taste or smell.

While waiting to use the walk-in mobile testing service, some queuing may be necessary, so please remember to wear a mask.

On arrival, health professionals will guide you through the process, and you will be asked to provide your name, date of birth, address and mobile phone number.

Once the test has been completed, you must return home immediately to self-isolate until the results have been confirmed – please do not e.g. visit local shops. While most people will receive their results via text message the day after taking a test, some results may take a little longer.

The mobile testing facilities are designed to ensure that communities throughout Bridgend County Borough have access to them as well as the alternative methods in which you can arrange for a free coronavirus test.

It is vitally important that we do not relax our attitudes towards Covid-19, and continue to do all that we can to keep our communities, our families and ourselves safe and well.
