More than 20,700 vulnerable residents vaccinated against Covid-19

Latest statistics from Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board have confirmed that more than 20,700 vulnerable people living in Bridgend County Borough have now received their first coronavirus vaccination.
Across the region, 75,830 have received the vaccine, 18,850 of whom are within the 80 and over priority group.
Over 19,000 frontline health and social care staff have also been vaccinated, along with over 15,100 people aged 70-74, 11,000 people aged 75-79 and more than 5,300 people classed as being either residents or staff at care homes throughout the region have also received their first dose.
Vaccinations for health and social care frontline workers are continuing, and the health board is working with GPs to ensure that vulnerable people who are housebound or who may be shielding receive a vaccination before 14 February.
Council Leader Huw David said: “It’s fantastic to see that vaccinations in Bridgend County Borough have now crossed the 20,000 mark, and that the programme has reached more than 75,830 people across the Cwm Taf region.
“GPs are contacting people who are in both the 75+ and 80+ priority groups, people who are shielding and residents who may be housebound with full details about where, when and how their vaccinations will be carried out.
“People who are within the 70+ priority group and staff who work within health and social care are receiving letters along with appointment details for the local community vaccination centre, which is based within Bridgend town centre.
“Both the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board website and Public Health Wales website are offering responses to frequently asked questions on the issue of the vaccine, and a dedicated helpline and email have been set up to assist people with any enquiries.
“You can access these by calling 01685 726464 between 10am-4.30pm Monday to Friday, or emailing CTM.VaccinationEnquiries@wales.nhs.uk.”
“Mobile testing also remains available within the county borough, and residents are urged to make use of this free service if they experience any of the symptoms associated with coronavirus.
“A drive-through mobile testing facility is available between 9am-4pm at the Halo Swimming Pool in Pyle (CF33 6RP), and a walk-through testing facility remains in place between 8am-8pm at the Bowls Hall car park off Bridgend Life Centre (CF31 4AH).
“Booking for both facilities is essential and can be arranged by visiting the Welsh Government website or calling 119. People with hearing or speech difficulties can book an appointment by calling 18001119.”
