A new £6.7 million housing development involving 40 affordable homes on the site of the former Pencoed Primary School has now been completed.
Bridgend County Borough Council worked in partnership with Hafod and Bridgend-based contractor Jehu Group to redevelop the site in Penprysg Road.
Funded by Hafod and the Welsh Government’s Social Housing Grant and Housing Finance Grant, it involves 12 one-bedroom apartments, 15 two-bedroom, seven three-bedroom and six four-bedroom homes.
This modern redevelopment of 40 new energy efficient homes brings very important affordable housing for local people, improving choice and availability in an area where there’s high demand for homes.
We are delighted to see the development now completed, helping to transform and regenerate a part of the community.
The council’s cabinet member for wellbeing and future generations Dhanisha Patel
Hafod’s chief executive Jas Bains said: “The site holds a lot of history and the new development now adds to this by bringing another valuable asset to the community in the form of much-needed, high quality affordable homes.
“The properties are conveniently located near all local amenities and transport links to create a truly sustainable community.”
The site became available when the former Pencoed Primary School closed – the new £10.8m Pencoed Primary School opened nearby in 2018.
Housing is allocated on a needs basis. To apply for housing visit the council website and apply through the Jigsaw system.
