New fund to help make Bridgend town centre businesses more attractive

New funding is available to help make businesses in Bridgend town centre look more attractive.

Secured by Bridgend County Borough Council in collaboration with Welsh Government, the ‘Urban Centre Property Enhancement Fund’ can provide financial support towards renovation work on shopfronts, signage, windows and doors, as well as internal and external structural improvements.

As well as making the town centre more vibrant, the fund aims to help vacant non-residential properties become more appealing for letting, make current businesses more accessible, increase footfall, and create jobs. We’re currently inviting expressions of interest in the scheme from town centre property owners, so please get in touch to find out more.

This commercial improvement scheme will tie in nicely with our county-wide plans to bring empty properties back into use. It also follows on from the success of the Townscape Heritage Initiative, funded by the Heritage Lottery, which has been making a big impact in our town centres for more than a decade by providing the funding to help property owners refurbish derelict buildings.

Properties that have benefited from that scheme include the Jennings Building in Porthcawl, as well as the transformation of the old Victoria Inn in Bridgend into the Corvo Lounge. We are looking forward to seeing what improvements this latest scheme can bring about too.
