A New Welsh Government grant scheme is being launched today (Monday, August 24) for childcare providers.
Businesses can apply for up to £5,000 to cover loss of income between 1 April 2020 and 30 June 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Childcare Providers Grant is for Care Inspectorate Wales-registered childcare businesses,
including childminders, nurseries, cylch meithrin, creches and out of school clubs.
The purpose of the grant is to support registered childcare businesses with immediate cash flow support to help them with the economic consequences of the Covid-19 outbreak.
The grant seeks to help those childcare businesses which have not been able to access other schemes and complements other Covid-19 response measures to support businesses, social enterprises and charitable organisations in Wales.
All childcare providers who meet the criteria can apply. If your business had to close due to coronavirus, you can still apply as long as you meet the other eligibility criteria which includes reopening your service by 14 September, or as soon as your school allows if based at a school.
Welcoming the new grant scheme, Bridgend County Borough Council leader Huw David said
The grant will be administered by local authorities and businesses can check their eligibility by visiting the Business Wales website. Applicants must include supporting evidence with their application.
Childcare providers will not be eligible for the funding if they have successfully applied for or had funding from the following schemes:
- Business rate grants administered by Bridgend County Borough Council
- Economic Resilience Fund
- Self-Employment Income Support Scheme
- Welsh Government Start-Up Grant
- Third Sector Resilience Fund
- Mudiad Meithrin grant scheme
The grant will be delivered in the county borough by Bridgend County Borough Council with applications opening on Monday, August 24.
