Bridgend County Borough Council’s Cabinet welcomes input from the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and is committed to open discussion about the new waste and recycling proposals as the process proceeds.
We would like to reiterate that robust discussions have taken place and all options are being explored with the intention of making sure residents get the best service possible.
The proposal of a temporary contract is one of a range of options being considered, after Kier confirmed that they intend to leave the waste market when their contract expires at the end of March 2024.
Scrutiny is an important part of the decision-making process at Bridgend County Borough Council and we will ensure that all aspects of this proposal are considered in full detail before any final decisions are made.
As I made clear at the original Cabinet meeting we were keen for all elected members to be involved through the overview and scrutiny process and we welcome their views.
Cllr Huw David, Leader of Bridgend County Borough Council
