Bridgend County Borough Council is supporting South Wales Police as they investigate the causes of a suspicious fire which occurred in Caerau.
The fire occurred at approximately 3.30pm on Wednesday 7 July in the former Progressive Club building on Caerau Road.
Extensive damage was caused to the property, but no one was injured thanks to the efforts of South Wales Fire and Rescue who managed to contain and extinguish the blaze.
South Wales Police have issued an appeal for witnesses, and have asked people to contact them.
You can do this by emailing SWP101@south-wales.police.uk, phoning 101, calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or reporting it online via the ‘Provide Info’ webpage.
This incident could have been a lot worse without the swift actions of the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
We will be supporting the police and emergency services as they continue to investigate the cause of the fire, and I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time to contact the police.
