Porthcawl takeaways make improvements after receiving notices

Two takeaways in Porthcawl have made improvements after being issued with notices for failing to ensure staff were wearing face coverings.

Roger’s Takeaway and the Cantonese Takeaway, both on New Road in the town, were given Premises Improvement Notices after a visit by Shared Regulatory Services officers on Saturday, 5 December.

The notices were terminated on Tuesday after officers re-visited and found that the necessary improvements had been made.

Premises Improvement Notices specify the measures that need to be taken to meet the regulations within a certain time limit, usually 48 hours. If the business fails to comply, enforcement officers can issue a Premises Closure Notice, requiring the premises, or part of it, to be closed for up to 14 days.

In some circumstances, enforcement officers can close the premises immediately without having served an improvement notice, but this would only be where there has been a serious breach of regulations.

Enforcement officers are continuing to visit premises across the county borough to make sure they are meeting their responsibilities in taking all reasonable measures to minimise the spread of Covid-19. It is vital that businesses follow Welsh Government guidance to help keep their customers and staff safe.
