Following today’s announcement from Buckingham Palace on the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the mayor of Bridgend County Borough Council, Councillor Kenneth Watts has issued a statement.
He said: “It is with great sadness to hear of the death of Prince Philip this morning.
“On behalf of the people of Bridgend county borough, we send our heartfelt sympathies to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family.
“Throughout his life, the Duke of Edinburgh served the crown with selfless devotion and a true generosity of spirit, and he has left a lasting legacy in the many organisations that he supported as Patron and President.”
The flags on the civic building will be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect and further announcements will follow.
