Pupils pull together during school repairs

Pupils at Corneli Primary School, Ysgol Y Ferch o’r Sgêr and the Integrated Children’s Centre have offered the infants of Mynydd Cynffig Primary a helping hand after a burst pipe left their classrooms without heat and in need of extensive repairs.

The children are giving up space, sharing resources and making room available for the infants while the repairs take place.

Expected to last for up to three weeks, the level of the repairs, which include removing four-inch thick concrete floors to access flooded heating ducts, means that it is not possible for the infants to stay on the premises while the work is underway.

Every effort has been made to limit disruption, make the transition as smooth as possible and ensure that the school breakfast club can continue. Parents are being kept fully informed.

I’m grateful to the pupils and teachers for making the infants so welcome, and would like to thank parents and guardians for their patience and co-operation while the work is underway.

With only the infants’ section of Mynydd Cynffig Primary School affected, every effort is being made to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. As soon as the work is complete and it is safe to do so, the pupils will be able to return to their classrooms, and normal routines will resume
