Remembrance Day services 2019

A range of Remembrance Day services will be taking place across Bridgend County Borough this weekend. They include the following:

In Maesteg, on Saturday a short Remembrance Day service and concert will take place at St David’s Church at 6pm (£5 entry).

In Llangynwyd on Friday, a service will be held at 10.15am in the community hall on Friday before wreaths are laid at the cenotaph at 11am and a two-minute silence is observed.

In Bridgend, a Family Parade and service will begin in Wyndham Street at 10:20am on Saturday. Then on Sunday, Bridgend’s Annual Remembrance Day Parade will take place, starting from the Civic Offices in Angel Street at 10:20am.

Bridgend Male Voice Choir and the Lewis-Merthyr Band will perform at the event, and there will be a short service conducted by Reverend Rachel Wheeler.

Carnegie House Arts Centre will host a remembrance pop-up café before and after both the Saturday and Sunday events, and all donations collected will be shared equally between the Royal British Legion, Veterans’ Zone and armed forces charity SSAFA.

In Porthcawl, a remembrance service and the laying of wreaths will take place at 10.30am in All Saint's Church in Victoria Avenue on Sunday. It will be followed by a service at the war memorial at 11am.

In the Ogmore Valley, a remembrance service will take place at the Blackmill Cenotaph starting at 10.45am on Sunday.

In Pencoed, a remembrance parade will gather at the Hendre Social Club for 9.15am on Sunday before marching through the town for a united service at Salem Chapel in Coychurch Road.

At 10:45am, the parade will then head to the cenotaph for a wreath-laying ceremony.

In Coychurch, a family remembrance service will take place at 9.30am in St Crallo’s Church on Sunday. It will be followed by a procession to Williams Memorial Hall where the two-minute silence will be observed at 11am.

In Cefn Cribwr, the Remembrance Sunday service will begin at 10.00am at the Wesleyan Methodist Church (the Chapel next to Mynydd Bach Common). The service will continue at the village war memorial on the common at 10.55am.
