Resurfacing works planned for the Valleys this summer

A number of roads are being repaired and resurfaced in the Garw, Llynfi and Ogmore Valleys this summer.

As part of Bridgend County Borough Council’s £2.7m highway improvement programme:-

• Resurfacing work is currently taking place in Bettws Road, Bettws. The works which started earlier this week are due to finish today (Friday). On Sunday 8 August, part of the road is due to be closed for further resurfacing work to be carried out where the road has been narrowed.
  
  
• Resurfacing is also due to take place on the Intervalley Road, Llangeinor, next week. Starting on Tuesday August 3, the road will be closed between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Works are expected to last at least a week, depending on weather conditions.
  
  
• And resurfacing works are due to take place in September on the A4061 High Street, in Ogmore Vale, from the Rhiwglyn Street junction to the fire station in Ogmore Vale. Due to last at least one week, two Sunday road closures will take place on the A4061 from its junction with in Glyn Street, along Bethania Row, and to its junction with Commercial Street

Elsewhere, work is also planned to repair flood damage to a number of roads in the county borough. Funded by Welsh Government, this includes:

• The A4064 Llangeinor to Lluest where surface treating work will seal the road surface and prevent further flood damage. Currently, the work is planned towards the end of August and is due to take one day.

All road works planned are weather dependent with dates subject to change. However, signs are set up around seven days in advance of the work and residential properties next to the works area will receive a letter informing them of any upcoming works, which may include closures.

Access will be maintained for emergency services at all times during the roadworks and diversion routes will be in place.

These works are part of an ongoing commitment to improve the road network across the county borough.

To help achieve this, we have invested £2.7m over the coming year with further grants from Welsh Government via the Resilient Roads Fund helping to repair roads damaged by flooding in recent storms.

Every effort is made to limit inconvenience while the improvement works are carried out. However, it is inevitable there will be some disruption and we apologise in advance for this. We ask both those living nearby to the works and drivers for their understanding and patience while we complete these works.
