School and community to benefit from new multi-use sports pitch

A new multi-use sports pitch is to be installed at Brynteg School for use by pupils and the wider community.

The £320,000 sports facility which will include new floodlights to maximise use through the winter months and outside of school hours is being funded equally by the school and Bridgend County Borough Council via the Welsh Government Schools Capital Maintenance Grant.

The existing all-weather pitch is often unusable due to its age and condition with drainage issues and an uneven surface.

Adam Rosser, assistant headteacher at Brynteg School, said: “The new sports pitch will make a huge difference, enabling more pupils to take part in a variety of sporting activities and providing a vital community asset for all ages within the local and wider community.”

We’re delighted to be able to help provide a much-needed replacement sports pitch at Brynteg School which will allow new activities and opportunities to develop for pupils as well as local clubs and organisations.

This is a great example of the school working very effectively, closely and successfully with the local authority to maximise Welsh Government funding, enabling investment in a community facility that will benefit many people from across Bridgend.

Members approved the funding at a full council meeting on Wednesday 20 October as part of an updated capital programme.
