Bridgend County Borough Council is urgently looking for people to join its Catering Services team to help prepare and serve meals for children at local schools.
With a range of openings available for cooks, senior dining room assistants, assistant cooks, general kitchen assistants and more plus benefits ranging from flexible term-time working hours to a staff pension scheme, the Catering Services team offers excellent rates of pay such as £9.50 an hour for a general kitchen assistant.
Continuous support from the management team is available as well as on-the-job training, and there are plenty of opportunities to study as you work and gain further qualifications.
Since the pandemic began, a number of vacancies have arisen at local schools, with several unable to reopen their free breakfast provision until more staff have been recruited.
With roles waiting to be filled, the council is recruiting new staff as a matter of urgency and wants to hear from people who are interested in finding out more.
We are looking for enthusiastic people who like working as part of a team, and who enjoy dealing with children on a regular basis.
Working within the council’s Catering Services team is often ideal if you need to fit your job around your family commitments, are returning to work after a career break, or are even seeking your first paid after-school work.
I hope that you will take the time to visit the jobs pages of www.bridgend.gov.uk to find out more, and that there is something there that is right for you.
Councillor Charles Smith, Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration
