People working in the social care and early years sectors are set to be celebrated during the upcoming WeCare Wales week.
The national event aims to shine a light on what working in the sector is really like and to draw attention to the wide range of jobs available.
To celebrate the event, which takes place from October 11-17 this year, people are invited to share why they like working in the care sector and how they found their way into care. Stories can be shared on social media using the hashtag #wecarewalesweek.
Event organisers WeCare Wales will also be running a competition to find the person or setting working in the early years sector who goes above and beyond for children. Nominations and votes will be held on the WeCare Wales Instagram page and the hashtag #wecarechildren.
Those considering a career in the sector can attend an online webinar on Tuesday 12 October at 10-11am to discover more about the world of care and the opportunities available.
WeCare Wales week is the perfect opportunity to give the social care sector the recognition it deserves for all its hard work and to draw attention to the wide range of jobs available in the sector.
We really need more people to consider the many benefits of working in social care. It is a job for life, there is full training and support and if you are a people person you will get great satisfaction as you will know you are helping people to live the lives that matter to them.
Social care provides fantastic career opportunities for people with different experience from their former careers and personal lives to make a huge impact for people.

Earlier this year, the local authority launched a recruitment campaign which offered roles for care workers in a variety of areas, from home care and reablement teams to young people’s services.
The recruitment drive links in with a national campaign currently being run by Welsh Government and Social Care Wales, aimed at promoting the benefits of working in care and encouraging people to apply for roles within the sector.
