Bridgend County Borough Council is saying a big thank you to all volunteers in Bridgend county borough for everything they do to help support our communities.
Each year Volunteers Week helps to recognise the fantastic contribution volunteers make with this year’s event being the 37th annual Volunteers Week.
Within the county borough, over 1,500 people have registered as volunteers with the Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations (BAVO).
Volunteers play a very important role in all aspects of community life and this week has been an opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to them and to let them know how much we appreciate their help and support.
From the start of the coronavirus pandemic, hundreds of people in the county borough registered to help provide important community support – over time this has ranged from welfare calls and help with shopping and collecting medical prescriptions to making sure that people can get access to vaccinations. More recently, volunteers have helped with marshalling the car parks, meeting and greeting, and signposting those attending the community vaccination centres.
We are incredibly grateful for all of their support, dedication and care particularly during such a difficult time.
Council leader Huw David
Over the past week, a number of activities have been organised by volunteer organisations to help mark the occasion. To find out more about a range of volunteering opportunities visit the BAVO website.
