A unique partnership is helping to provide Archbishop McGrath Catholic High School with strategic leadership over the next two years.
Despite several extensive recruitment campaigns, Archbishop McGrath Catholic High School has been unable to appoint a permanent headteacher.
Instead, school governors have asked Mrs Debra Thomas (Headteacher, Cowbridge Comprehensive School) to work with them in a partnership designed to build upon the school’s strong position and levels of educational achievement to help the school progress and move forward.
As well as leading one of Wales’ top secondary schools, Mrs Thomas brings with her a wealth of experience as well as a strong empathy with the needs of a faith school.
I am very keen to learn more about the very good work taking place at Archbishop McGrath that I can share back at Cowbridge Comprehensive School, and vice versa.
This is an excellent example of a partnership approach where two very good schools are working together to learn from each other.

Councillor Charles Smith, Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, added:
I would like to welcome Mrs Thomas to her new role as executive head at Archbishop McGrath, and to recognise her achievements as headteacher at Cowbridge Comprehensive School.
This is an exciting next step in the development of both schools, and we are fortunate to have secured an outstanding individual to lead them.
