Due to a national shortage of drivers, Bridgend County Borough Council has warned it is experiencing some difficulties with home-to-school transport.
Although the impact on school transport in the county borough is currently minimal, affecting a small number of pupils only, any further staff shortages may impact upon the local authority’s ability to transport some pupils in the future.
The local authority is making every effort to ensure school transport services continue as normal but in the event of any changes, we will let parents know as soon as we are made aware of the situation.
We appreciate this will be of concern and ask for your patience and understanding at this time. Schools will be kept informed of any immediate issues and will pass them onto families as soon as possible.
In the meantime, we would also like to remind secondary school-age pupils and their families that the ‘no-pass, no-travel’ arrangements in secondary schools that were paused throughout the last school year will begin once again on Monday 20 September.
This means that any secondary school-age pupil travelling on a local authority provided school bus will be required to show a valid school travel pass.
New style passes that now include a hologram, have been sent out to pupils via secondary schools over the last two weeks – the old style passes are no longer valid.
