Work to resume at Cefn Cribwr Primary

Bridgend County Borough Council is reassuring residents of Cefn Cribwr that work on the construction of new primary school classrooms is set to continue early next month.

Before the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic forced the project to stop, work was in the early stages at Cefn Cribwr Primary to demolish an unsuitable double mobile classroom and replace it with two new observation classrooms specially designed for supporting pupils with additional learning needs.

With new toilets, cloakroom areas and storage as well as a safe space for interventions, the £513,000 project will also provide a state of the art external soft-play area for pupils to enjoy.

The council now expects work to recommence in early May with new procedures in place to ensure the well-being of contractors.

The Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic has forced various school modernisation projects to temporarily stop construction.

With issues surrounding the availability of building supplies, social distancing requirements and health and safety implications for staff, projects such as the new classrooms planned for Cefn Cribwr Primary School have had to temporarily pause.

I am delighted that construction is set to resume in a safe and reliable manner.
