Complaints
Any issues experienced during bereavement can have a traumatic effect. We know how important it is to find out what went wrong, and to put it right.
You can complain in person, by letter or phone directly to the Bereavement Services Department.
The issue should be dealt with by crematorium staff, but if this is not possible Coychurch Crematorium is covered by the complaints procedure adopted by Bridgend County Borough Council and the details are provided below.
There is a three stage complaints process which involves:
- informal complaint stage
- formal complaint stage
- review stage
Informal complaint stage
It’s best for everyone if complaints are dealt with as quickly as possible. Please contact the office or individual that you usually deal with first, and they will try to resolve the problem quickly without a formal complaint being required.

Formal complaint stage
If your complaint is not resolved at the informal stage you can make a formal complaint. You can do this either by email, letter, or by using a corporate complaint form. Please let us know what you think has gone wrong and what you think we should do to put it right.

The Ombudsman
You have the right to refer your complaint to the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales, who deals with complaints of public services acting in an inept or dishonest way, for example unfairness or delay.
