Bottle plant decision prompts call for renewed efforts on fresh investment

The Leader of Bridgend County Borough Council has described news that a bottle plant expected to create 600 jobs will no longer be developed locally as being ‘a bittersweet setback’, and has called upon the UK Government to work alongside Welsh Government to make renewed efforts to attract fresh investment into the area.

Almost 40,000 people vaccinated in Bridgend County Borough

Latest statistics provided by Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board have confirmed that almost 133,000 people have now received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine throughout the region, including 40,000 residents of Bridgend County Borough.

Council budget agreed for 2021-22

Bridgend County Borough Council has agreed a total net budget of £298.95m for the coming year while avoiding proposed cuts to several popular services and keeping its council tax increase as low as possible.

Regular coronavirus testing for school staff

In line with Welsh Government guidance, lateral flow tests will soon be offered to all staff in schools and registered childcare settings following the return of three to seven-year-olds to school.
